Introduction to Mirr and Mirr Code
Understand what Mirr and Mirr Code are, why Patty built them, and how to get started.
Think in Korean, start developing in Korean.
Mirr is Patty's Korean-centered AI model family. It is being developed so that users can naturally express their intent in Korean and get help, not only for coding and problem-solving but also for everyday questions.
Mirr Code is the coding harness that connects Mirr to real development work. It connects project files, the terminal, and development tools to the model so work can continue from understanding and changing code, through running commands, to checking results.
In simple terms, Mirr is the model that understands requests and thinks through solutions, while Mirr Code is the tool that works with that model in real projects.
Why did Patty build Mirr?#
Do you have to ask in English to get a better answer?#
While using many high-performance AI models, Patty repeatedly saw differences in how requests were interpreted and in the quality of the results when the same meaning was sent in English versus Korean.
Being able to answer in Korean is not the same as fully understanding a Korean requirement and resolving it.
The same applies to coding. Understanding real requirements explained in Korean matters as much as solving coding problems written in English. Scores on English coding benchmarks alone cannot explain the full experience of developers working in Korean.
This difference is why Patty started building Mirr. People should not have to translate a question into English or search for English wording that an AI understands more easily. They should be able to explain and solve problems in the Korean they know best.
What we want to improve is not simply the language of the answers. It is the whole working experience from the moment a request is expressed in Korean to the moment the result is checked.
What kind of model is Mirr?#
Mirr is an AI model focused on understanding intent and context in Korean, reasoning in Korean, and producing the answers needed for real work.
It understands in Korean and reasons in Korean#
Producing natural Korean sentences alone is not enough. It must be able to understand what the user wants, what conditions must be respected, what should be changed, and what should remain unchanged.
Mirr treats Korean not merely as an answer language, but as the central language for understanding requests and working through problems. Along with the ability to understand Korean instructions, it strengthens Korean reasoning capacity for examining solutions step by step.
Developers can describe requirements in familiar terms and review code and solutions together on that basis.
It takes Korean documents and work context seriously#
Working in Korean does not mean only writing Korean sentences. It also requires understanding the document formats and development environments used in real work.
Mirr has strengthened its understanding of Korean document formats such as HWP and HWPX. It focuses on topics such as explaining related concepts and writing code needed for document processing in Korean work environments.
The goal is AI that understands not only Korean sentences, but the formats and contexts actually used in Korea.
A model's understanding of document formats and actual file processing capabilities are separate. Whether HWP or HWPX files can be read, modified, or converted directly depends on the connected tools and execution environment.
A focus on Java development#
Mirr pays particular attention to Java-based development capabilities often used in Korean development teams.
It values not only writing new code, but also understanding the structure of existing projects, analyzing the cause of errors, and modifying the needed parts. In real development, understanding and improving already-running code is as important as building something from scratch.
The goal is to connect requirements explained in Korean naturally to Java code analysis, implementation, and maintenance.
It can also be used for everyday questions, not only coding#
Mirr is not a model only for code.
It can be used to understand unfamiliar concepts, draft writing, organize content, review ideas, and ask everyday questions. It is also possible to have a conversation that starts with a question, clarifies direction, and then continues into implementation.
Mirr is a model that handles a wide range of questions, and Mirr Code is the tool that connects those capabilities to development work. Remembering this makes the two names easy to distinguish.
Mirr model family#
Mirr is the name of the model family, divided into Pro and Flash.
| Model | Availability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mirr Pro | Available now | A Mirr model that can be used for Korean-centered coding, reasoning, and everyday questions. |
| Mirr Flash | Not released | Not yet available; details will be announced later. |
Mirr Pro and Mirr Flash are model names. The name of the product that lets you work alongside the model is Mirr Code.
What does Mirr Code do?#
Receiving a code snippet in a chat window is different from modifying code and checking execution results inside your own project.
Mirr Code connects these two. When a user makes a request in Korean, it helps the model examine project context, use the necessary files and tools, and carry the work forward.
This kind of execution environment, which connects an AI model to files, command execution, tools, and conversation context, is called a harness.
If Mirr decides how to solve something, Mirr Code provides the environment needed to carry that decision into actual work. The basic workflow is as follows:
Make the request in Korean → Check the project and relevant files → Write or change code → Run commands and check results → Refine where needed
Rather than ending at generating code, Mirr Code keeps questions, explanations, planning, implementation, and result checking in one continuous workflow.
Where can you start?#
There is no need to write a complex prompt from the beginning. Try describing the problem and the result you want in Korean.
When you want to understand and improve an existing project#
"Explain the structure of this Java project first. Tell me which files and methods a login request passes through and summarize what to check before making changes."
You can start by understanding the project before changing any code. After that, explain the desired change and review the scope and verification method together.
When you want to automate repetitive work#
"I want to make a program that merges CSV files in this folder. Remove duplicate rows and make it clear which file caused an error. Also explain how to run it."
You do not need to know every development term. Start by explaining what data you have, what work you repeat, and what result you need at the end.
When you want to build something for the first time#
"I want a simple web page introducing our shop. It should include an introduction, business hours, and location. First ask me the needed details and explain how to check the page on my computer."
There is no need to define every requirement from the beginning. Clarify the details through conversation, build a working version, and improve it gradually.
AI suggestions and explanations can contain errors. Please review important changes yourself and check execution results and tests.
Making development more accessible and affordable#
Patty believes coding should not remain a tool only for developers.
For developers, it provides a tool that reduces repetitive work and allows focus on more important problems. For non-developers, it provides a starting point to turn their ideas and work needs into actual programs.
To do that, high model performance alone is not enough. People need to be able to start comfortably in a familiar language, continue work while understanding the results, and use the tool regularly rather than only trying it once. Cost also needs to be at a level that supports steady everyday use as a practical tool.
Mirr and Mirr Code aim to grow a Korean-centered model and working environment together so more people can use AI coding at a reasonable cost.
So that familiarity with English, depth of development experience, or how much someone can pay does not become the difference in whether they get a chance to build something.
This is why Patty builds Mirr and Mirr Code.
Getting started#
Read Before you install, then follow the installation guide for your operating system and sign in.
Once ready, open your project and enter your request in Korean. Understand an unfamiliar repository shows one example. If you have not decided what to change yet, you can ask, "Explain this project's structure."
